A quote from Gavin Watson, in an article in the Grauniad: Getting under their skins. I remember the second wave of the skins; one of my friends was one. I wasn’t a part of the scene at all, and for me it was just part of the 80s background noise. The article’s interesting in that the main interviewee, a skinhead photographer, “[i]s now keen to take pictures of the Muslim skinheads of Malaysia. ‘I promise you they exist,’ he says. ‘I often think, how did we get from our little gang to this?’”. I haven’t seen any Malay skinheads here in Singapore, though I’m told they exist; I have seen Malay youths dressed in two-tone style, which really freaked me out – it’s a style I associate with my early teens, which were, um, a while ago….

Yes, you heard me correctly. Malaysians are some of the most confused people in the world. These are kids no more than 18yrs old dressing up like they belong in the SS. They shave their heads, wear those stormtrooper boots and have swastikas tattooed on them… sounds like your average white supremacist right? yeah right… except that these kids are MALAYS. The most important component in being a skinhead is being WHITE, but the concept seem to be lost in translation. These kids they burn the Qu’ran and during Merdeka they run around KL (a few hundred of them) robbing, looting, stealing, raping, beating, sucking, fucking up the city… so much for independence. What could cause such phenomenon? Answer: Rock music and DoTA

First of all Real skinheads are not racist, Second of all There are skinheads of all creeds and colors all over the world and Racist skinheads are posers and nothing more than a Racist bringing down the skinhead culture.You need to think about what you are saying,your remark is nothing more than pure predjudice and ignorance. OK, this was just a quick post about something I found interesting. For the record, I don’t know any of the people who have commmented. I have a feeling that this is showing signs of turning into a flame war between people who don’t know me or each other, so I’m not going to approve any more comments on this post.
